Christmas Poetry Competition 2019
The 2019 Christmas Poetry Competition is now closed.
This year we are running a very special competition to inspire pupils’ creative writing.
To celebrate the festive period, we’d love pupils from primary (Key Stage 1 and 2) and secondary schools (Key Stage 3 and 4) to write a poem on the theme of Christmas Dinner!
One winner from each Key Stage will be selected by our judges:
- Judith Kirk - Assistant Director, Education and Skills
- Adrian Clark - Principal Adviser, School Improvement Service
- Liz Dyer - English Adviser, School Improvement Service
Each winner will each receive a £20 National Book Token Gift Card and their school will also win a set of books of their choice to the value of £50!
How to enter
Simply email the poem to firstname.lastname@example.org or post the poem to North Yorkshire Education Services – SB101, County Hall, Northallerton, North Yorkshire, DL7 8AD.
Please include your school’s name, address and telephone number and the pupil’s name and key stage.
Deadline: 17:00 on Wednesday 4th December 2019
The winners will be announced on Wednesday 11th December 2019 and winning poems will be published on our website, in our Christmas message to schools and on social media!
The best of luck to all that take part!
