Barbara has worked for North Yorkshire County Council since 2002 holding a number of front line and management roles, which include the development and implementation of the Prevention Service, development of children’s centres, leading on children’s centre inspections and the implementation of the common assessment framework.
She commenced her role as Head of Early Help in February 2018, which involves the implementation the Early Help strategy across Children and Families Services and partner agencies influencing behaviors’ to ensure the principles of Working Together 2018 are fully embedded. Barbara also ensures systems and policies are in place to fully involve children, young people and families in planning and decision making participating in consultation around service delivery and development.
Increasing her knowledge, Barbara has completed a degree in Working with Children and Families and a Masters Qualification for the National Professional Qualification in Centre Leadership.
Barbara also has an early years background, which she is particularly proud and passionate about. She qualified as a Nursery Nurse (NNEB) in 1982 and has worked as a family nanny, nursery and teaching assistant and a community nursery nurse. This early years experience has proved essential as she is now a proud and very busy grandma to seven (soon to be eight) beautiful but very lively grandchildren!
