An outstanding achievement
Our procurement and contract management service has done us proud at the UK Excellence in Public Procurement Awards 2019/20, held at the Hilton Metropole, Birmingham, on Tuesday 30 April 2019.
The awards are the UK’s premier procurement awards, recognising outstanding achievement in procurement across the public sector. The judging panel, made up of eleven of the country’s leading procurement experts, recognised our achievement alongside fellow winners and highly commended entries.
The service won the GO National Procurement Leadership of the Year Award for Local Government. The profile of public procurement is on the rise, and with it comes the demand for even higher levels of performance, effectiveness, innovation, efficiency and leadership. This award recognises those organisations that have fully embraced this challenge, and which are placing procurement at the front and centre of their strategy for the delivery of outstanding public services.
The team also received the highly commended GO National Procurement Team of the Year Award for Local Government, which recognises the power and potential of a focused and unified approach to procurement initiatives. Above all, this Award recognises leadership, communication, innovation, collaboration and a collective team ethic and approach to deliver excellence in public services.
Kevin Draisey, our head of procurement and contract management, said: “The standard of the award entries from public sector bodies across the UK was very high which makes our success all the more significant, and is testament to the hard work and achievement by staff across the service.” Gary Fielding, Corporate Director of Strategic Resources also said “This is brilliant news and well done to all involved. The award is very well deserved.”
